POL KHOLI – The Old City Caf’e
‘Pol’ means a narrow street – the Old city centre of Ahmedabad is made up entirely of ‘pols’. It also means ‘a hidden secret’. ‘Kholi’ means ‘revealed’ or ‘opened’.
The name of this cafe is a pun on the word ‘Pol’ as it attempts to open the secrets of the old city streets to the residents of and visitors to this UNESCO nominated World Heritage City. This cafe serves both traditional recipes as well as some western dishes along with fresh juices and ice-creams.
Mangaldas ni Haveli II is a modern hotel in a refurbished 150 year old residential home located in the very heart of the Historic Walled city. It is just a ten minute ride from The House of MG and within walking distance of the Juma Masjid as well as a plethora of ancient temples and monuments. It is also in the midst
of the bustling bazaars and artisan workshops that characterise the Walled City precinct. At night, the neighboring Manekchawk transforms in to a pulsating outdoor food court.
Yet, once you enter this lovely property, you are in an oasis of calm surrounded by modern amenities and high standard of food and service that you would expect from The House of MG. The hotel features six rooms with WIFI, at screen TVs, modern bathrooms and large comfortable beds. Guests staying at this
hotel can avail of all the other facilities at The House of MG, like it’s restaurants, swimming pool and spa.
Though there is no parking available in the premises during the day (after 8PM, small vehicles can nd ample parking on the road side), access to and from the property is via a shuttle service of The House of MG or by rickshaw/microcar (we also recommend use of popular cab hailing apps for convenience).
Come and experience the unexpected as we reveal the secret of the pol!
