‘Mangalbaug’ is located in the original residential precinct of Western Ahmedabad near Parimal Garden. This lush green compound houses three bungalows from the 1930’s. It’s a green haven with beautiful old trees and a variety of fauna. Two of these houses are occupied by members of the Mangaldas family and the third house, a late 1930’s colonial building, is now the ‘Mangalbaug Gallery and Residency’. It has two lovely ensuite rooms on the ground floor and three studios (bedroom, workspace, bathroom, and shared pantry) on the first floor. The beautiful gallery on the ground floor has a separate entrance and has one covered courtyard, another open courtyard, two large air-conditioned spaces, and changing rooms with bathrooms. This Gallery is available for events and pop-ups.
Two ensuite rooms on the ground floor overlooking a garden and with a common seating area and a verandah with a swing. A member of the family used to reside here till 2017 and her furniture and personal artifacts have been used to decorate the premises. There is a huge courtyard in the rear (where the Gallery is located) that guests can use or even attend an event if its being hosted there.
