The House of MG has 38 beautifully appointed rooms between them, offering all modern amenities in a grand but homely ambience. It is a 20th century family mansion that is renowned for its traditional hospitality. Mahatma Gandhi first stayed in this house on arrival from South Africa in 1917. Replete with courtyards and verandahs overflowing with greenery, it is comfortably conditioned in all enclosed spaces with free Wifi. Walking through the meandering corridors, there are pleasant surprises around every corner (including a couple of domesticated cats that can be found lounging around) . The House of MG has been tastefully restored, with all its furniture and fixtures designed and sourced from local artisans.

Mangaldas ni Haveli I and II, both restored havelis, are located at a distance of 2 km from The House of MG, in the very midst of the pols. They too have all modern amenities including free Wifi. There is a cafe serving snacks and juices at Mangaldas ni Haveli II. Residents at these annexes can avail of all facilities at the main hotel.

Agashiye, the renowned Traditional Gujarati Thali Restaurant, is on the terrace of the The House of MG (it was voted one of the top ten restaurants in India by Trip Advisor in 2016). The Green House Cafe is on the ground floor in a semi open courtyard offering gujarati and South Indian Snacks, comfort food from the continent as well as Fresh juices and Ice-creams. Pol Kholi Cafe is located in Mangaldas ni Haveli II, offering similar snacks and fresh juices.

Mangaldas ni Haveli I is located in the centre of the historic UNESCO declared World Heritage City of Ahmedabad. Estimated to be over 300 years old, it is one of the finest examples of carved wooden architecture of the time. This beautiful building was acquired by the Mangaldas family in 2006 and has since been restored.

The Haveli is a twelve-minute ride from The House of MG that meanders through narrow lanes (pols) and bustling bazaars. The buildings here are two to three floor structures – all inter-connected yet in different styles. The ground floor road facing rooms are used as shops and the interior comprises of a kitchen and residential rooms around a central courtyard with a steep staircase leading to higher floors. They also have an integrated rain harvesting system with underground water storage tanks (tankas).It houses 2 rooms, Courtyard Room and Terrace Room, with WIFI, flat screen TVs, modern bathrooms and large comfortable beds.You can have delicious snacks at Pol Kholi café at Mangaldas ni Haveli II, just 5 minutes walk from the Haveli 1.The cafe serves local and international delicacies in a beautiful outdoor and air-cooled setting. Mangaldas ni Haveli II is a modern hotel in a refurbished 150 year old residential home located in the very heart of the UNESCO nominated World Heritage City of Ahmedabad. It is just a ten minute ride from The House of MG and within walking distance of the Juma Masjid as well as a plethora of ancient temples and monuments. It is also in the midst of the bustling bazaars and artisan workshops that characterise the Walled City precinct. At night, the neighboring Manek chowk transforms in to a pulsating outdoor food court.

Yet, once you enter this lovely property, you are in an oasis of calm surrounded by modern amenities and high standard of food and service that you would expect from The House of MG.The hotel features six rooms with WIFI, flat screen TVs, modern bathrooms and large comfortable beds. Mangalbag Gallery and Residency

‘Mangalbag’ is home to one branch of the Mangaldas family. It is located in the original residential part of Western Ahmedabad city near Parimal Garden. This lush green compound houses three bungalows, all built by the patriarch of the Mangaldas Family, Sheth Mangaldas. Its a green oasis with beautiful old trees and a variety of fauna. Two of these houses are occupied by members of the family and the ground floor of the third house, a late 1920’s colonial building, is now the ‘Mangalbag Gallery and Residency’.
